MUSKEG LAKE CELEBRATES AS CREE-WAY WEST GAINS RESERVE STATUS

A new era in economic development for progressive community

The Muskeg Lake Cree Nation is excited to announce that CreeWay Gas West located at 2511 22nd Street West in Saskatoon has recently received reserve status. This is the second gas station owned by the Muskeg Lake Cree Nation to receive reserve status in the City of Saskatoon.

“We are thrilled to continue building upon our economic development success in the City of Saskatoon. The Muskeg Lake Cree Nation believes in contributing to the economy of Saskatchewan while creating opportunities for our band members,” states Chief Clifford Tawpisin Jr.

Since the first Muskeg Lake Cree Nation urban reserve was created in Saskatoon 1988 it has lead the nation in innovative First Nation economic development projects and is continuing this legacy with the creation of the Muskeg Lake Cree Nation Investment Management Corporation. Led by a board of experienced business professionals chaired by Frank Proto, the Investment Corporation provides recommendations to the community on future economic ventures.

Chief Tawpisin Jr. explains, “We believe in seeking out partners who will help us to grow. Having a team like our board of directors helps to position Muskeg Lake to be the best in urban First Nation development. CreeWay Gas West is just the first success of many more to come.”

We hope that you will join us to celebrate this exciting development on Thursday January 19, 2012 with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 2:00 PM at CreeWay Gas West. Following the event we will be hosting a feast at round dance beginning at 4:00PM at the White Buffalo Youth Lodge.
